B.Sc. in Nautical Science is three-year undergraduate program allowing you to join a ship as a trainee cadet officer (commonly referred to as a deck cadet). This course focuses on the fundamental, intellectual and practical device learning, that’s needed to navigate and operate ships securely. The cadet becomes eligible to take up the position of navigating officer onboard a merchant navy ship after having completed sufficient time at sea and clearing the required certificate of competency exams.


Candidates passed in 10+2 with more than 60% marks in PCM and minimum 50% marks in English. Passport is mandatory for admission.

Medical Fitness:

Candidates should be medically and physically fit with eyesight 6/6 and no colour blindness.

Selection Procedure:

NMS undertakes an Aptitude and written test followed by CET of D.G. Shipping. The final selection will only take place after medical check-up through our panel Doctor. approved by D. G. Shipping Govt. of India.
